Living in Portugal
Seasons
The best times to travel to Portugal are the spring – especially from the end of March to the end of June – and autumn – September, beginning of October, two sunny seasons, despite the temporary rains. The temperatures are very pleasant both in the cities and countryside. In the spring, bushes are covered with flowers and the countryside turns green; in the autumn, the grape harvest is celebrated, especially in the region of the Douro River and Porto.
If you mainly want to enjoy the sea, choose the hottest summer months, June, July and August.
But living… all year round is very good, and fiscally very favorable and pleasant!
Portugal has introduced a very attractive tax system!
It is the status of non-habitual resident (RNH), as simple as this: it is enough to effectively settle there, stay there more than 183 days a year and not have been a resident in the last five years.
NHRs are also exempt from income tax in Portugal for other categories of income from foreign sources, such as dividends, interest, as long as they are taxed in the home state.
